when you add a new site into web master tools you have two possibility to verify the site:

  1. Download the file HTML, open filezilla and copy into the public root folder
  2. Copy the HTML tag code into header.php on your WordPress: Appearance —- Editor —– header.php copy the code generate by Google web master toll between <head>  </head>
  3. When you are verify you can start to change settings to make your site more visible inside Google search:

– change geographer location

– decide primary syntax with or without WWW

– Add a sitemap. Generate a file sitemap.xml using http://www.web-site-map.com/, copy the file using FTP client into  Public, and finally under Crawl sitemap add the sitemap that will help you to discover better the content of your web site.
