Enable Remote Desktop Access Your Home Computer from anywere

I will show in few steps how to access your windows pc for anywhere:

By default, your local network is local and cut off from the rest of the internet. In most cases you have just one IP address that’s shown to the world, despite the many that your router distributes to your individual computers and devices locally. What port forwarding does is take a port on that shared IP address that’s available to the rest of the web and forwards it to one of your local machines. This lets people from outside access services on your local network.

log in into your router 192.168.1.1 under advance NAT open a port:  port 3389, the default port for Remote Desktop Connection, with the local ip address from your  computer.

Check if the port is open on your computer, you can do that using this web site http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

On your Windows machine under systems propriety under REMOTE allow connections and select the user or group that will be able to access your PC remotely

Change settings on the Firewall:

  1. On the remote computer, click Start and select Control Panel.

  2. Click System and Security.

  3. Click Allow a program through Windows Firewall under Windows Firewall.

  4. Click Change settings and then check the box next to Remote Desktop.

  5. Click OK to save the changes.

From any computer open Microsoft remote desktop and type your public IP address, authenticate and you will be able to access your Windows desktop from anywhere
